According to National Mental Health, the total suicide rate in the United States increased 35% from 10.5 per 100,000 in 1999 to 14.2 per 100,000 in 2018. In 2018, the suicide rate among males was 3.7 times higher (22.8 per 100,000) than among females (6.2 per 100,000).

Today, in this rapid 4th industrial revolution era, machine learning and artificial intelligence is rapidly evolving. In a not far future, will these technology determine the mental health and help predict the potential crisis ahead? Imagine a bright future, the machine learning can predict and prevent the mental health in order to reduce the suicide rate.

However, everything is double sided, will this techniques included computer vision turn to against morality? Today, we’ve seen how artificial intelligence is discriminated, unfair and invading individual’s privacy. From this project, I want to express a future where machine learning is incredibly accurate and quantified for determine people’s mental health from their facial expression in real time. In order to reduce the suicide rate, the governments around world start to implement more surveillance CCTV to monitor people’s mental health time by time.

People’s mental health score is not personal but more like a entry point or pass to travel, transport, and live.
